Are you an education professional who wants to know how to provide the right support?

NDCS Training have designed a one-day workshop, devised for all staff in colleges, to help you make sure that deaf young people are fully included in the life of your college. You’ll learn simple steps and suggestions for deaf-friendly teaching and use their Supporting achievement resources [www.ndcs.org.uk/supportingachievement]. You’ll have the opportunity to discuss a range of inclusive approaches and leave the workshop with practical ideas that will benefit all students in your college.

The main themes includes:

  • Understanding deafness and its impact on learning
  • How to use deaf-friendly teaching and assessment approaches and make reasonable adjustments
  • Effective communication (including use of technology, such as radio aids and using communication support)
  • Information and advice on how to secure effective transition into adulthood

Please note: This workshop is intended for mainstream staff who do not have access to local education authority training support on inclusion and deaf-friendly teaching or for those who would like supplementary or refresher training.
