‘Developing staff to achieve the best outcomes for learners’
The Education and Training Foundation are pleased to announce that they have commissioned the Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP) and partners to develop a programme of support for teachers and trainers across the vocational education and training sector, involved in the delivery of Traineeships.
An important development for the Foundation and the vocational education and training sector, the Traineeship Staff Support Programme (TSSP) will support education and training professionals to develop the confidence and capability to meet current and future challenges in relation to traineeship delivery.
Jenny Williams, Director of Vocational Education and Training at The Education and Training Foundation said “The development and delivery of traineeships offers many advantages for young people, and we know that providers and employer partners are keen to make the most of the opportunities traineeships offer. Whilst there is emerging good practice in the sector around traineeships, some providers have told us that their introduction has highlighted additional workforce development challenges. To this end, we have commissioned a programme of professional development support.”
The programme starts today with the publication by AELP of the provider prospectus and an invitation to apply to run projects if you are a provider, or a network of providers, currently involved in, or planning the delivery of traineeships.
Stewart Segal, AELP CEO said “AELP has consistently maintained that a successful traineeship offer has the potential for making a major difference in tackling youth unemployment and this is why we are delighted to manage on behalf of the Foundation the Traineeship Staff Support Programme (TSSP) with our partners AoC, 157 Group, Holex, NIACE and the Spirit Pub Company. We have already seen many colleges and providers get their own high quality local offer off the ground and the TSSP offers the opportunity for others, including local networks, to improve provision at the front line of delivery. The TSSP encourages bids in relation to different elements of traineeship delivery and I hope that the response reflects this.”
