About the Education and Training Foundation

Established in October 2013, we are the expert body for professional development and standards in Further Education and Training in England, and are also a registered charity.

We support teachers and leaders across the Further Education and Training sector to help them achieve their professional development goals for the benefit of learners and employers across England. In doing so, we help to transform the lives of individuals and communities across the country, unleashing potential and benefitting the economy.

Your work at the ETF will help us to further these objectives. You could work across a number of different departments, levels and projects, having a hand in steering our future direction.

During the pandemic

Learn more about how we supported our employees during the Covid-19 pandemic.

How we supported employees

Supported by our Wellbeing Champions, and our Senior Leadership Team, we increased our wellbeing offer, with the following initiatives, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic:

  • set up a wellbeing Teams channel – with pets of ETF being the highlight
  • shared weekly emails with activities
  • introduced a video pal scheme
  • created a collaborative Spotify playlist
  • launched a bimonthly step challenge
  • regular organisation wide wellbeing check in’s
  • an additional day’s leave
  • recognising colleagues through the praise app
  • increased our library of resources
  • learning hours on wellbeing topics.

Staff led activities included:

  • yoga
  • mindfulness sessions
  • lunchtime workout sessions
  • book club
  • crafting sessions
  • gameshow/quiz
  • Friday tea and talk
  • highlighting key dates and initiatives e.g Mental Health Awareness week.

By introducing this extended company-wide initiative through a period of significant change in both our employees’ professional and personal lives, we ensured that the value and importance of supporting mental health and wellbeing at work has created a culture change. This in turn has enabled us to stay connected, engaged, and supported. Now every Wednesday is Wellbeing Wednesday.

Key achievements during lockdown

“My favourite thing to do at the ETF is to join the Mindfulness sessions, run by my colleagues. Their guided meditations are brilliant, and they really set me up for the rest of the day. As someone who has struggled with their mental health, I highly recommend these sessions, as we all need time to recalibrate and find our inner peace.”
