Dan Williams

Dan is Programme Leader and Lecturer on PGCE Post 14 Education and Training at the University of Derby, working with practitioners from a range of providers to develop their teaching, learning and assessment practice.

Prior to this, Dan has worked as a Lecturer in Initial Teacher Training and Advanced Practitioner at New College Nottingham, a Teaching and Learning Coach at Central College Nottingham and as a Lecturer and Advanced Practitioner in Sport and Public Services at Leicester College. This experience has given Dan a sound appreciation of the impact of policy on practice and the positive impact that Further Education can have, particularly for disadvantaged groups.

Dan is a Fellow and Chair of the Society for Education and Training. He achieved QTLS status in 2012. He is passionate about professionalism, practitioner identity and giving practitioners a voice. His experience of supporting and working alongside practitioners in different sectors, alongside his large social network of practitioners allows him to maintain a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced.
