Julie Baxter

Julie has worked in the Further Education Sector for over twenty- two years and she has extensive experience of the full range of Further and Higher Education, academic and vocational curricula.

She is currently the National Head of Maths at the Education and Training Foundation, where she is responsible for the development and management of the programmes of maths within the sector.

Julie previously worked on the Centres for Excellence in Maths programmes, holding the role Director for Maths Centre for Excellence at Newham College for two years. Prior to this she was Head of Maths at Newham College, and worked as a teacher trainer on the Colleges’ PGCE programme for three years. She started out as an ESOL/EFL teacher, working in a range of environments, including two years abroad.  Later she moved back to become Head of ESOL at a large London F.E college.

She is a qualified maths and ESOL teacher, who is passionate about raising attainment in maths across the sector and who is committed to inspiring individuals of all ages to continue with maths beyond attaining the compulsory GCSE.
