T Level Resource Improvement Projects (TRIPs) are an opportunity for providers and other stakeholders to work together to produce resources that will support the planning and delivery of T Levels.

Employer co-created case studies and learning materials to support the delivery of core content

Organisations involved: Shrewsbury College

Published date: July 2024

Brief: This T Level Resource Improvement Project (TRIP) has produced case study materials, and a range of learning materials to support the delivery of T Level in Digital Production, Design and Development Core Content and Core Skills. The case studies and learning materials have been developed by an experienced T Level provider, with input from employers.

The resources include:

  • a framework for learning to show how learning can be scaffolded and sequenced to develop understanding
  • case studies materials to support the scaffolding and sequencing of learning
  • nine lesson plans to support the scaffolding of the understanding of Core Content
  • learning materials to support each lesson which enables the delivery of the framework for learning.

Supporting holistic delivery – developing learning activities to integrate core and occupational specialism content

Organisations involved: South Essex College

Brief: Employer informed and peer reviewed learning activities which combine content from core and occupational specialism sections of the Digital T Level.

Developing employer co-created learning materials related to working in the sector

Organisations involved: Newcastle and Stafford College Group (NSCG), Cyberkiln, University Hospital North Midlands, UHNM and Chelmsford College

Brief: Working with employers from a digital sector to produce two employer case studies and 20 hours of lesson plans covering the core content for the T Level Digital, Design and Development pathway.

Each session is a combination of underpinning digital concepts that have been identified from industry employers and to support learners with their core content. The theme of employability is highlighted in the first two sessions and then develops into clear digital aspects that employers have identified that learners need more guidance on and therefore relevant in the working world.

Developing Python Skills for the Employer Set Project

Organisations involved: Leeds City College

Brief: This collection of resources will allow practitioners to follow a programme of training that is coherent and easy to navigate, supporting the delivery of the Digital T Level.

Project-Based Learning and Delivery Toolkit

Organisations involved: Bolton College, Hopwood Hall College, Wirral Met, Priestley College and Blackburn College

Brief: This project produced five mini schemes of work, approved by employers and a generic design ‘toolkit’ for project-based learning, which contains employer approved resources covering; Digital Support Services T Level route core element 4, 5.2 and element 4 linked to programming aligned to the Design and Production T Level. A teacher guide was also created to provide an overview of the schemes and resources and an explanation of prior learning needed before delivery of the schemes/resources.

Working with employers to co-design Digital T Level content

Organisations involved: East Norfolk Sixth Form College, AST Group, Great Yarmouth Borough Council & Here Studio, Youth STEMM Award CIC, GravityWell

Brief: This project was created with two aims: in the short-term, to have engaging industry-led materials to support the delivery of Digital T Level content. In the longer term, to use the learning and apply it across all T Level routes so that industry participation is embedded in the T Level programmes, at both Level 3 and as part of the transition route. The resources provide teachers and learners with industry-based examples related to Digital T Levels and signpost a range of careers available in this sector.

Materials to support core content formative assessment

Organisations involved: Shrewsbury College Group

Brief: These learning materials will support learners to develop their understanding of the Core Content of the T Level in Digital Production, Design and Development and to support them to prepare for their Core exams.

TRIPs are suitable for teachers, managers, and specialist staff, and can also benefit from the involvement of wider stakeholders such as employers, awarding organisations and Higher Education Institutions. 

TRIPs are offered to the sector as pre-agreed projects that will produce specified resources to support teaching, learning and assessment for T Levels. Projects are funded to support staff time you will have the opportunity to: 

  • shape the content of these projects by informing us of the areas you would like to see covered by additional resources 
  • participate in the resource development for one or more projects
  • support the sector and success of T Levels.
