A Day in the Life Learning Resource

Organisations involved: Activate Learning and South Devon College

Brief: Working with employers from a particular sector produce an employer endorsed ‘day in the life’ account to showcase to students real working environments and activities. Produce a high-quality, accessible, and detailed account of working within a particular sector, providing access to a range of useful information and visual experiences of different working environments. Develop lesson plans and associated learning materials to demonstrate how this resource could be used effectively in T Level delivery.

Communities of Practice – Developing pathways from T Levels to local HE

Organisations involved: East Sussex College Group and University of Brighton

Brief: This project was created to support staff to better understand how T level and Degree programmes can align to provide clear progression pathways for students and offer an enhanced student experience.

Contextualised learning materials to support understanding and skills of challenging maths concepts

Organisations involved: Hertford Regional College

Brief: Employer informed and peer reviewed learning materials which contextualise maths within the Construction, Business and Administration and Engineering and Manufacturing T Levels.

Developing a portfolio of guidance and resources materials to support T Level implementation and delivery

Organisations involved: Blackpool and the Fylde College

Brief: Peer reviewed guidance and resource materials to support providers planning to deliver T Levels.

Developing Employment Competency

Organisations involved: Middlesbrough College, Darlington College, Southport College, Manchester College, Nelson & Colne College

Brief: This project’s aim was to improve teaching practice within T Levels by preparing learners for the progressive development of employment skills and workplace behaviours. The project generated a range of both route specific and non-specific teaching and learning resources, which sought to embed employers views in the design of activities. These activities enabled learner development of English, mathematical and digital literacies and enhanced collaboration skills through problem based learning.

Developing strategies to support CEIAG for vocational learners

Organisations involved: East Sussex College Group, East Sussex County Council, SCTP and Plumpton College

Brief: This project was aimed at conducting a systematic review and mapping across East Sussex of existing careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) arrangements and needs in relation to technical education. The review was driven by key stakeholder feedback, specifically employers, young people and their parents, carers and teachers.

Employability Skills in a Changing World

Organisations involved: South Devon College and Bridgewater and Taunton College

Brief: In order to develop a deeper understanding of how the current labour market has been affected by COVID-19, this project explored the top 10 employability skills which are required in the post-Covid-19 world and developed innovative delivery methods to support learners with these skills.

Exploring Industry Placement options for Digital and Business T Level learners within the Football Industry

Organisations involved: Weston College, Bridgwater and Taunton College, Somerset FA, Taunton Town FC, Bridgwater United FC, Weston-super-Mare FC,

Brief: The key objective of this project was to begin to explore the Industry Placement options for Digital T Level learners within the commercial and business side of the football industry. As a result, the following guide was created containing key knowledge, skills, behaviours, and occupational competencies required to work in this industry.

The resource provides a guide for employers and providers and outlines some exemplar activities to support the hosting of industry placements for football organisations. It is designed to be used by football employers as well as provider employer engagement teams, to help identify activities and understand how best to engage with T level learners, and to support talent pipelines for their future workforce, whilst ensuring high quality and relevant placement provisions can be sourced and sustained.

TRIPs are suitable for teachers, managers, and specialist staff, and can also benefit from the involvement of wider stakeholders such as employers, awarding organisations and Higher Education Institutions. 

TRIPs are offered to the sector as pre-agreed projects that will produce specified resources to support teaching, learning and assessment for T Levels. Projects are funded to support staff time you will have the opportunity to: 

  • shape the content of these projects by informing us of the areas you would like to see covered by additional resources 
  • participate in the resource development for one or more projects
  • support the sector and success of T Levels.
