AoC Governance Professionals Conference – 27 January 2021

The 2021 Association of Colleges (AoC) Governance Professionals Conference will take place on Wednesday 27 January and tickets can be booked now. The programme offers a mix of sector updates, practical breakout sessions and the chance to hear best practice gems from colleagues.

The event will feature the Education and Training Foundation’s (ETF’s) National Head of Governance Development, Fiona Chalk, discussing how governance professionals can use their influence. Fiona, who was named Governance Champion of the Year at the 2020 Chartered Governance Institute Awards, will address internal and external stakeholder management, motivation mapping and power sources.

Other speakers will include:

  • FE Commissioner Richard Atkins on lessons learned and reflections from the review of college financial health
  • Shirley Collier, Governance Consultant and Coach, and Kurt Hall, Governance Advisor, Association of Colleges, on conducting an effective board review and self-assessment
  • Dr Ron Hill, Professor of Education, University of Stirling, discussing virtual governance
  • Anne-Marie Nixon, Director of Governance, Hugh Baird College, on succession planning for the board and senior management teams
  • Jeremy Cross, Author and Consultant, on how governance professionals can act as invisible strategic leaders.
