Booking open for Governance Professionals’ Development Programme

Booking for the 2023/24 cohort of the ETF’s expert level Governance Professionals Development Programme is open until 31 October. It is aimed at Governance Professionals in the FE sector with more than 18 months’ experience looking to broaden their knowledge and gain the confidence to become the technical expert and trusted advisor of governance within their organisation,

Designed by – and specifically for – Governance Professionals within FE, the programme will develop participants’ understanding of college strategy and the wider sector, as well as focusing on technical aspects of the role, including regulation, finance, quality, handling board business and building key relationships.

Delivery will begin on Tuesday 14 November with an in-person session at the ICC in Birmingham, and continue with online sessions in December, January, February and March, before concluding with another in-person session in Birmingham in April. With the initial session in November taking place alongside the Association of College (AoC) Conference, participants will receive a complimentary ticket to attend that event on 15 November as part of the course fee.

For those who have been Governance Professionals in FE for less than 18 months, the Governance Professionals’ Development Programme – Induction & Mentoring is likely to be a more suitable option. Like the Expert Level programme, it is also designed by – and specifically for – Governance Professionals within FE.

Recognising the variety of backgrounds and skills new Governance Professionals bring to their roles, it equips participants with guidance on what their role is and what the role of governance is, what is expected of them, and how their role should develop over time. It also includes learning and best practice from more experienced colleagues, emphasising the benefits of being part of a wider community.

Delivery begins with an in-person session in Birmingham on 16 January and continues with three online sessions in January and February, before concluding with another in-person session in Birmingham on 16 April. The deadline to book is 2 January 2024.
