Thursday 21 March is UNESCO World Poetry Day and people all over the world will be celebrating by reading, sharing and writing poetry.
We are inviting colleagues across the Further Education and Training Sector to join us in celebrating the event by writing their own poems about the sector and sharing them via social media. Your poem could be about any aspect of FE – its contribution and importance, your experiences of working in it, the special moments you share with learners – it’s up to you.
We will be looking out for posts across the ETF and Society for Education and Training social media channels – Twitter (@E_T_Foundation and @SocietyET), Facebook (@socEducationTraining) and LinkedIn (The Education and Training Foundation) – and favouriting and reposting our favourite contributions. When you post, simply use the hashtags #WorldPoetryDay and #FE.
To get the ball rolling, we’ve come up with a haiku about the importance of FE and Training to society:
Changing learners’ lives,
FE and Training.
But we know that our sector is blessed with creative, passionate people, and we‘re sure you can do better. Pick any type of poem you like – it doesn’t have to be a haiku – and get writing. And you don’t have to wait until the day itself to share your poem; we’ll be looking out for them in the days leading up to the event as well as on 21 March itself.
We look forward to seeing your contributions.
