Chairs Development Programme March 2024 events

The next two sessions of the Education and Training Foundation’s (ETF’s) Chairs Development Programme (strand 2) will take place online on 6 and 21 March.

  • On Wednesday 6 March, the session (2pm to 3.30pm) will focus on the theme of change and how Chairs can support it.
  • The session on Thursday 21 March (4pm to 5.30pm) will focus on effective ways to foster the most productive relationships between Chairs, CEOs and governance professionals in colleges.

To book a place at either event, visit the ETF course booking system.

The Chairs Development Programme (strand 2) was launched in 2023, with the first session taking place alongside the Society for Education and Training’s annual conference, SET 24, in January. It responds to research conducted with FE and Sixth Form College Chairs that identified key elements they felt would enable them to deliver greater impact. It is delivered by two highly experienced former College Group CEOs, Amanda Melton CBE and Dame Sally Dicketts.

The programme provides high-quality learning in key aspects of college governance linked to the ETF’s competency framework for chairs, including systems thinking, partnership building, corporate leadership, people and performance management skills.

The Chairs Development Programme (strand 2) is part of a wider ETF offer of support for Chairs, Governors and governance professionals in FE. For details, visit the Governance Programmes page of the ETF website.
