The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) has announced a series of four online workshops as part of its Governance Professionals’ Continuing Support programme. They take place between the end of January and end of March 2024 and there is no charge to attend the sessions.
The workshops provide skills and knowledge to enable governance professionals to be sound independent advisors and strategic influencers. They are open to all governance professionals in the FE and skills sector; particularly those who are more experienced who wish to extend their skills and knowledge.
On Tuesday 23 January (10–11.30am), The governance professional’s role in developing the board will consider the concept of a high-performing board and the governance professional’s role, how to maximise the impact of governors and create a positive board culture and dynamics, and the importance of governance professionals’ visibility.
On Tuesday 30 January (1–2.30pm), Developing skills in risk management will provide a refresher on risk management, considering the board’s role in relation to risk management at a college and its governance.
On Thursday 22 February (1–2.30pm), Strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement will focus on good practice in stakeholder engagement, identifying internal and external stakeholders, and meeting Ofsted’s expectations.
On Tuesday 12 March (10–11.30am), Equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) will examine the governance professional’s role in building an inclusive culture at the board, including advising on recruitment and supporting the board to lead by example and promote diversity.
Places at all of the workshops can be reserved by visiting the ETF booking website.
They are part of a wider ETF package of support for governance in FE and skills. Details are available on the ETF website.
