Hear from ETF experts at AoC events this spring

Following on from the Association of Colleges’ (AoC) Annual Conference, details of the Education and Training Foundation’s (ETF) sessions at forthcoming AoC events have now been confirmed.

Experts from across the organisation will be speaking at conference events covering a range of topics aimed at the FE sector including apprenticeships. All the events will take place online throughout the rest of February and March 2021.

 

AoC English and Maths Conference
Tuesday 23 February & Wednesday 24 February
09.30 – 12.30

The AoC English and Maths Conference is a must for all leaders in English and Maths in the FE sector. The 2021 conference will take place online across two mornings and will bring together inspiring speakers offering engaging and practical advice.

On the first day of the Conference, Philida Schellekens, National Head of English and ESOL, and Julie Baxter, National Head of Maths, will be delivering the ETF’s breakout session titled ‘Teaching maths and English: Lessons learnt from lockdown in the context of Ofsted’s 3Is’.

In this session, they will reflect on the delivery of English and maths, and how delegates might apply their recent experience to Ofsted’s 3Is of intent, implementation and impact.

Building your Employer Offer Conference – A review of Apprenticeships, Traineeships and The Kickstarter Scheme
Tuesday 16 March & Wednesday 17 March
09.30 – 12.30

Taking place over two mornings, this event will focus on addressing the current challenges faced by colleges in delivering apprenticeships, traineeships and utilising the Kickstarter Scheme.

In a breakout session delivered by Paul Kessell-Holland, National Head of Higher Level Education and T Level Design, we will explore our recently launched Apprenticeship Workforce Development (AWD) offer, flagged in the FE White Paper as a part of the government’s future strategy to support staff working in and leading apprenticeship delivery. Discussion will include exploring key areas for future staff development in apprenticeships, as well as wider ETF offers that may also be helpful for apprenticeship delivery, for example relevant recruitment programmes or wider leadership development opportunities.

Teaching, Learning and Assessment Conference – The future of learning is blended learning

The Teaching, Learning and Assessment Conference will explore and share practical approaches to help you with the planning for a future which is blended, even when it is safe to return to our campuses.

Vikki Liogier, National Head of EdTech & Digital Skills, will be delivering a breakout session titled ‘The Enhance Learning Ecosystem to support differentiated EdTech and Essential Digital Skills (EDS)’. Vikki will give an overview of the fully subsidised EdTech and EDS professional development offers hosted on the Enhance Digital Teaching Platform and how to contribute to learning communities that will lead to the co-construction of knowledge and practice (Mercer et al., 2017).
