More than 43,500 activities supported to date as part of T Level Professional Development offer

The ETF is proud to have supported 43,723 activities as part of the T Level Professional Development (TLPD) offer, funded by the Department for Education (DfE), since the TLPD Pilot Phase began in 2019.

Participation figures for the period May 2019 to July 2023, show that over 22,000 individuals (22,126) have participated in the programme.

Of those who accessed the TLPD offer in the academic year 2022 to 2023, 94 per cent of survey respondents said the offer would have a positive impact on their professional practice. When asked what the best part of the learning experience was, one participant stated: “It gave me the best understanding yet of what’s going on. And the ability to be able to absorb content and discuss with facilitators and others ‘live’ and in the moment is invaluable. It definitely increased my confidence level.”

For the full 2022/2023 academic year, 6,951 teaching and teaching support staff engagements with TLPD activities have taken place. Of these, 4,607 were for face-to-face or live-online CPD activities, and 2,344 were with the on-demand online learning offer.

Highlights from the 2022/23 academic year included two T Level Learning From events – held in Leeds and London – which cumulatively brought together more than 450 practitioners involved in T Level planning and delivery to network and share their learnings. Gillian McDermott, Business Lecturer at Broadstairs College (East Kent College Group), attended the London event and reflected: “I would definitely encourage others to come to future events because it’s a real opportunity to collaborate with others and share your experiences and also get reinforcement that we are all in this together.”

The ETF has been supporting the delivery of T Levels since 2019 and was awarded a four-year contract by the DfE in February 2020 to continue to support providers, leaders and practitioners to deliver this continuing professional development to the FE sector.

The TLPD offer continues to grow, introducing new opportunities for schools preparing to deliver T Levels and an Assessment in T Levels course which is designed to build participants’ understanding of how the principles of assessment are put into practice for T Levels. In 2023/2024 there will also be a new six-month Leadership Development Programme available for schools and sixth form colleges.

The ETF continues to work with providers from across the FE sector, employers, professional bodies and key partners to enhance the programme and ensure teachers are fully supported during the T Level roll out.
