Two new courses for leaders in the Further Education (FE) and Skills sector are now available on the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) online learning system.
Both are free to access on-demand, allowing those engaging with them to learn when and where they like and at their own pace. They feature videos, quizzes and interactive activities to reinforce learning.
Leading Innovation is designed to increase leaders’ awareness of how to be innovative when leading and managing curriculum and quality in FE and Skills provider settings. Integrating theory, case studies and personal reflection exercises, it explores drivers for innovation, develops awareness of best practice in curriculum and pedagogy innovation overseas, and fosters an improved understanding of how to effectively lead curriculum and pedagogy in the UK. The four-hour course also looks at the principles behind the effective management of quality assurance.
The course complements ETF’s Strategic Innovation for Skills professional development programme.
Finance Leaders and Managers is designed to develop the leadership capability of finance leaders and managers, to help them work with their teams to deliver compelling strategies that drive organisational performance.
The three-hour course is comprised of two modules. The first focuses on driving team performance, looking at what motivates a high-performing team, the importance of a clear vision and communication, and strategies for providing supportive feedback and running meetings. The second module focuses on influencing the broader business, including adapting communication styles for different audiences, identifying personal strengths to influence team members, and the importance of non-finance colleagues having a shared understanding of finance.
Both courses are accessible via the ETF’s online learning system, which also features courses on Apprenticeship Workforce Development, equality, diversity and inclusion, ESOL, digital and EdTech, governance, preparing for a career in FE, and Prevent and safeguarding.
