The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) has announced the first two of a new series of online networking and development events for FE College Chairs, Governance Professionals, and CEOs. The free events will encourage the sharing of innovative and creative thinking on effective governance and feature a range of expert speakers who will provide insight into governance topics.
The first event – Impactful Board Evaluations with Better Boards – will take place at 2pm on 16 September. It will be led by Dr Sabine Dembkowski, the Founder and Managing Partner of Better Boards, an organisation that works in the profit and not-for-profit sectors to make the boards of the most ambitious organisations more effective. Sabine has conducted extensive research into effective boards and is credited for having identified the seven hallmarks of effective boards. The research is peer-reviewed and published in the US, the UK and across Europe.

The second event – The Board’s contribution to organisational success – will take place at 2pm on 21 October. It will be led by Steve Maslin, Executive Director and Chair of the Carey Group’s Risk and Audit Committee, who has over 30 years of experience in finance, auditing, policy, risk and regulations within the public, private and charity sectors.
