Taking Teaching Further

Taking Teaching Further programme is a national initiative to attract experienced business and industry professionals to teach in Further Education (FE).

This Department for Education-funded initiative has been managed on its behalf by the Education and Training Foundation who also played a key role in the programme’s development. It was launched in June 2018 with four rounds of funding having been successfully completed between 2018 and 2022.

Taking Teaching Further is moving

The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) has now successfully completed Round 5 year 1 of the Taking Teaching Further (TTF) programme.

The Department for Education (DfE) has reviewed the TTF programme. From 1 March 2023 the delivery of the programme will move to the DfE.  This will enable any possible future changes to be made and ensure the programme can continue to best meet the sector’s needs.

Over the five rounds of the TTF programme that the ETF has successfully delivered, we have engaged with over 250 Further Education providers and supported the recruitment of around 1,000 industry and business experts.  From feedback we know they are making a significant positive impact on technical students, and that their readiness for future industry roles has been positively impacted.

Feedback has suggested that the recruits’ current industry knowledge and ways of working have helped shape curriculums and has led to providers re-visiting how they support the on-boarding of recruits in a more formalised way.

From 1st March 2023, any Round 5 queries or questions should be directed to the DfE’s TTF mailbox @TTF.Enquiries@education.gov.uk

For Round 4 you should continue to contact ETF for any questions or claims at takingteachingfurther@etfoundation.co.uk
