Following extensive research with its members, the Society for Education and Training (SET), the membership body dedicated to professionals working across further education, vocational teaching and training, has launched its new and refreshed brand identity. This was in response to a desire by professionals that the identity of their membership body be more accurately portrayed and reflect the quality, values and diversity of their professional community.
With more than 17,000 members, SET is the largest professional membership body in the education sector and is growing rapidly. It supports the careers and professional practice of members and connects them with thousands of like-minded professionals and experts. It also provides them with access to the best research and expert views, in addition to being the body that administers, on behalf of the Education and Training Foundation (ETF), both Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status and Advanced Teacher Status (ATS).
The new identity links with the ETF, the national workforce development body for the Further Education (FE) and Training sector, which manages SET as its professional membership arm.
Tim Weiss, Director of Membership for SET, said:
“We are confident that – alongside our excellent membership benefits and professional development opportunities – this refreshed identity will make our current members feel more valued and proud to be part of SET. We also feel it will help to attract more individuals who will recognise the value of being part of a dedicated and professional community that supports their career and professional practice.
“We have listened closely to our members, about how they wanted the quality, values and diversity of who they are and what they do to be portrayed. They have therefore been instrumental in shaping the new identity of SET.”
Dan Williams, Chair of the SET Management Board, said:
“In a highly competitive, wide reaching sector, SET membership really does allow you to stand out from the crowd. It gives you access to great research, well-established networks and superb offers for high-quality professional development. Furthermore, clear, robust and prestigious stepping stones such as QTLS and ATS mean that there’s always opportunities to progress with your career. Thanks to the help from our members, I am delighted we are now launching this new, contemporary and confident brand. I am sure this will mean even more practitioners join our growing community.”
The updated brand will be rolled out over the coming months, encompassing a new look for the website and member literature.
