The college, commended as ‘Good’ overall by Ofsted, is situated across eight campuses and centres across Birmingham, and is also a Wave 3 T Level provider.
The partnership will see 50 teachers from SCCB to become members of SET, which is the only professional membership body dedicated to teachers and trainers working in Further Education (FE).
Announcing the partnership, Susan Gaffey, Head of Quality & Enhancement at South and City College Birmingham, said:
“We are really excited to join the Society for Education and Training as a Corporate partner as we strive for excellence.
“It demonstrates the college’s commitment to the promotion of continuous learning in order to improve the life chances of our young people through excellent learning experiences and innovation.”
As new SET members, the teaching staff at SCCB will be joining the largest professional network of teachers and trainers in the further education sector, with opportunities to share expertise and experience with their peers.
They will also benefit from a valuable range of professional development opportunities, including access to exclusive content, research, webinars, events and discounts.
Martin Reid, Director of SET, said:
“We are delighted to welcome South and City College Birmingham as a Corporate Partner of the Society for Education and Training.
Our partnership provides teaching staff with access to a host of expertise and resources as well as CPD opportunities, including enabling them to study for both Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) and Advanced Teacher Status (ATS).
We look forward to supporting our new members in striving for excellence in their professional journey.”
The college became a SET Corporate Partner in September 2021, as part of its commitment to the learning and development of its teaching staff.
