Support your learners’ progress through our OTLA programme

Applications to take part in the next phase of the ETF’s Outstanding Teaching, Learning and Assessment (OTLA) programme close at 5pm on Sunday 9 December 2018.

This programme, funded by ETF and delivered by Achievement for All, will support 10 project teams to work collaboratively to find creative solutions to five problems that are impacting on learner outcomes:

  1. Learners who do not make sufficient progress in subjects that are included in value added measures (for example, maths and English).
  2. Learners in vocational and technical subjects who are not able to contextualise their progress and skills in relation to the industry standards of their chosen vocation, making them less ready for the transition from education to employment.
  3. Learners who often don’t have a clear idea of what they need to do next to progress because of ineffective target-setting processes.
  4. Learners who do not always develop the professional behaviours they require in employment, such as team working and punctuality.
  5. Teachers who need support to translate their general understanding of what progress looks like into what progress and mastery look like in a specific subject area.

Each team will have a budget of £24,000 to support their project. To be eligible for the programme, participating organisations must be based in England, work directly with post-16 and adult learners within vocational subject areas and be delivering formal qualifications which may include maths and English. Providers across the whole spectrum of FE and training are encouraged to apply – we have made changes to the application process to support smaller providers to take part.

Further details, including how to apply, are available on the project homepage.
