Supporting Deaf Awareness Week 2022

Deaf Awareness Week 2022 (2-8 May), aims to raise awareness and challenges of deafness and hearing loss faced by 1 in 6 people in the UK. 

The Education and Training Foundation (ETF), and its membership body, the Society for Education and Training (SET), offers a range of resources to support you and help break down the barriers that people who are deaf, or have hearing loss, face in education. 

If you haven’t already, please sign up to receive Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) updates from us by subscribing to our newsletter, ticking the SEND box.

The theme for this year’s Deaf Awareness Week is ‘Deaf Inclusion’ and you’re encouraged to share your stories using #MyDeafStory to celebrate deafness. Colleagues from across the ETF took this opportunity to learn some British Sign Language (BSL) and recorded this video to celebrate the week:
