Subject Teacher Training and Subject Knowledge workshops that provide practitioners with an insight into new or challenging subject topics in the T Level outline syllabuses have received a positive reception from attendees.
The workshops, which address the three T Level subjects that will be taught from 2020 – Education & Childcare, Construction, and Digital – provide ideas about creative and innovative ways in which the courses might be delivered. Part of the Education and Training Foundation’s T Level Professional Development (TLPD) offer, they have been delivered in both face-to-face and online ‘twilight session’ webinar formats and have engaged more than 120 participants since they began in October.
Feedback from the sessions has identified the high quality of the sessions and speakers, as well as the practical tips – such as using the SCRUM methodology in teaching the digital T Level, how to teach coding without computers, learning about the use of block chain methodology in construction, and curriculum sequencing – that will make a difference to the delivery of the new courses to students.
Participants have also welcomed the facilitated discussion of innovative practice the sessions have included, the opportunity to discuss T Level preparedness, and the acquisition of knowledge to disseminate to colleagues and fellow members of Teacher Regional Improvement Projects.
The workshops complement other aspects of the TLPD offer including workshops for Professional Practice, Assessment and English, maths & digital skills, and a forthcoming modular programme – Pedagogy for Technical Teachers – which will support providers in the professional development of their technical teachers, the design of creative curricula, and in delivering inclusivity across their T Level provision.
A second round of online ‘twilight’ (5pm to 7.30pm) workshops in each of the three 2020 T Level subjects will take place in February and March 2020. They are bookable now:
These, and other TLPD CPD activities, are listed on the ETF T Levels Calendar and are available for booking. There is no charge to attend for ESFA-funded providers.
