About our Chairs’ Programmes

We have a range of different professional development opportunities for Chairs across 2023-2024, including in-depth training programmes that include residentials and mentoring, network events, as well as online self-directed training modules.

We have also introduced the Chairs of the Future Programme, a new development training course aimed at supporting those with aspirations of Chairing college Boards.​

Chairs’ Leadership Programme​

The Chairs’ Leadership Programme (CLP) includes a two-day residential, as well as shadowing and a series of coaching/mentoring post-residential​.


Chairs of the Future Programme​

This new programme is aimed at supporting established governors with the objective of becoming a chair in the FE sector. It includes a two-day residential in autumn 2023, and a series of coaching/mentoring post-residential.


Regional Conferences

Delivered online across different regions in England, the conferences aim to support board members and senior leaders to improve board effectiveness and overall provider performance.


Governance Development Programme

Package of 32 online modules aimed at developing the skills of both new and existing board members and, where appropriate, clerks/company secretaries in Further Education and Sixth Form Colleges.


Network Events

Series of online standalone events with opportunities to hear from guest speakers, as well as networking opportunities with others in FE governance.
