The Department for Education (DfE) has released a Prevent duty self-assessment tool to assist providers in the FE and Training sector in England better comply with their Prevent responsibilities.
The tool can help providers understand how well embedded their policies and practices are, what is working and what requires further development. The assessment is broken up into three steps: evaluation, action planning and summary, and the assessment should be conducted on an annual basis, with results being continuously reviewed ‘so that there is a continuous reflection, learning and updating of internal processes and external partnerships.’
The self-assessment tool was designed to enable FE and Training sector providers to review and assess the Prevent duty related responsibilities in line with Section 26 of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 and Ofted’s education inspection framework.
Further support is available from the DfE’s Regional FE and HE Prevent Coordinator network.
