Safer Recruitment

The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) has published an updated Safer Recruitment module. 

Safer recruitment is an essential part of safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk.

Adopting safer recruitment practices prioritises the safety and welfare of everyone in the organisation and enables the identification of unsuitable adults who may apply for employment or volunteering.

This module will explore safer recruitment, examining why it is important and how methods of safer recruitment can be embedded within your organisation. The resource is divided into three sections: 

  • The safer recruitment process
  • Making the right decision
  • Induction

The module will take on average 3 hours to complete with questions and a certificate at the end. There are multiple links to other reading resources and links to Government website guidance and templates. Additional reading is guided by your interest and the context of your organisation. Where possible we have provided information that is topical and relevant for the FE and Training sector.

We use the terms ‘must’ and ‘should’ throughout the guidance. We use the term ‘must’ when the person in question is legally required to do something and ‘should’ when the advice set out should be followed unless there is good reason not to.
