Past experience: I have over 19 years’ experience working in the Further Education sector including animal management, SEND, apprenticeships, quality assurance, quality improvement, professional development and coaching.
Fun fact: My first experience of flying was actually jumping out of a plane on a sponsored parachute jump.

Name: Omar Lakhssassi
Region: London and South East
Past experience: I have approx. 15 years’ experience working within education, primarily within business development and employer engagement within Apprenticeships and Work Based Learning.
I have a good understanding of vocational training, having been based within both a Further Education college and more recently the University of Portsmouth, supporting engagement within Level 6 and 7 work based learning programmes. I am passionate about Continuous Professional Development and have undertaken many courses through my local FE provider and recently completed my own Degree Apprenticeship within Leadership and Management.
Fun fact: I once got my Mum to give a member of Take That a lift home when he couldn’t get a taxi!

Name: Mandeep Sahotay
Region: London
Past experience: I have worked in the FE sector for over 25 years, managing and leading large cross college departments, faculties and directorates. I have also worked in Adult Learning and the HE sector. My areas of specialism are quality assurance, curriculum development and staff development. For the last ten years, I had been working as a consultant supporting London Colleges improve their self-assessment rates.
Fun fact: I LOVE cake and chocolates. I have completed the marathon and do many sponsored walks to raise money for charity.

Name: Carole Brown
Region: South East
Past Experience: I have 12 years’ experience within education, including as a Teacher, Senior Practitioner and Learning Manager. I have worked across the Secondary and Further Education sectors and my subject specialisms include Business, Enterprise & Innovation, Business Law, Finance and Accounting and Maths.
Fun Fact: I used to work at a local theatre, and I had the opportunity to meet a lot of stars in various shows. The standout moments were while talking to Boxer Frank Bruno, I made him laugh so loud that the whole room fell silent and looked over to see what was going on (we were at an after panto party with a DJ playing) and when I met Comedian Lee Evans, he said he felt “so short” (he actually is a little) as I was taller than his security guard – I was 20 years old, 5’10” and wearing 5 inch platform shoes.

Past experience: I have been working in Further Education for 11 years, primarily as a Head of Sixth Form and member of SLT. Amongst other things I have focused on Curriculum Planning & Development, University & Career Guidance, and on establishing and nurturing key partnerships.
Fun fact: I love gardening, chess and maps! I am also a huge West Ham fan (for my sins!).

Name: Ollie Knight
Region: London
Past experience: I started as a History and Government & Politics teacher at A-Level and equivalent level 3 courses. I have worked for 15 years in FE and International schools as a department manager and member of SLT and have focussed a lot on partnership and relationship development. I have also worked as a quality and partnership manager for another education and research charity
Fun fact: I am a keen amateur historian focussing on military history and militaria, and have a particular interest in the Anglo-Zulu Wars. I visit battlefields around the world in my spare time. I also used to live in Sweden!

Past experience: I have worked in the sector for over 20 years and have delivered and managed courses from Business and Marketing Foundation Degrees, to English and maths for the disengaged. Latterly I have focussed on teacher training, OTLA project, research and consultancy work; supporting providers to address challenges and find solutions.
Fun fact: I taught David Dickinson to say Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF) on Bargain Hunt!

Past experience: I have over 20 years’ experience of working in partnership with providers in the Further Education, learning and skills sector nationally. I am passionate about striving for excellence, and developing opportunities for continuous improvement for providers.
Fun fact: I have got an energetic and adventurous spirit. I love to be out exploring the outdoors and being spontaneous, going on expeditions and adventures with family and friends.

Past experience: I have worked in Further Education for almost 20 years, focusing on careers, IAG, quality assurance and employer engagement. Most recently, my focus has been on developing strategies to grow work experience and create strong employer partnerships to support the growth in Industry Placements for T Levels. In my last role, I was able to achieve Chartered Management status through the CMI.
Fun fact: I love being in the outdoors and getting back to nature. I’m always happiest on the top of a hill, on a long, muddy bike ride or kayaking down a river!

Past experience: I have worked as a Senior Leader in both the further education (FE) and secondary education sectors, working as a Head of five FE academies and as a Deputy Head in secondary education. I have also represented a number of organisations at board level, working on Governance.
Fun fact: I am an advanced diver and skier. I love diving in Egypt and skiing in Italy.

Name: Iain Thompson
Region: Yorkshire and Humber
Past experience: I started life as a Personal Trainer before diving into teaching and course managing. I progressed as department leader before most recently working as an advanced practitioner in supporting technology enhanced learning. I have worked in the FE Sector for nine years.
Fun fact: I am on a mission to read 53 books this calendar year and so far I have completed 50. Lockdown had its perks!

Name: Alex Eslor
Region: Yorkshire and Humber
Past experience: I have 13 years experience working in education, in both the Further Education sector and secondary schools. I have held a variety of non-teaching roles and responsibilities, including managing MIS, Academic Registrar, Data & Exams Manager, and School Liaison. I also spent two years getting to grips with the New Zealand education system – and the challenges of distance education – working at Te Kura, New Zealand’s Correspondence School, which covers all the way from early years to post-16.
Fun fact: I spent time living and travelling in New Zealand and it was fantastic to experience life in such an incredible country. I fulfilled a lifelong ambition to go hang gliding in Queenstown, and loved the feeling of flight so much that I also jumped off a cliff attached to a paraglide a few days later in Christchurch.

Past experience: I have worked for 14 years in Further Education as a manager, a coach and mentor and campus lead as well as leading on a culture change projects. My curriculum responsibilities cover the Creative Industries – Media, Film, Art, Games Design. I am really passionate about the quality, the improvement and inclusivity of education.
Fun fact: I love anything on wheels, cars and bikes! I have a classic mini, which needs some TLC but did take it to see the Italian Job at a drive in movie, just for minis!

My subject specialisms are English and media, and I’m passionate about enhancing the quality of learner experience and outcomes.
Fun fact: I have an extensive collection of animation art and changed my middle name to one of the characters from She-Ra Princess of Power!
