T Level Role and Route Specific Training

This programme provides you with a wide range of pedagogical and subject-specific courses, modules, workshops and other activities, which can be structured to meet your professional development needs. Training is co-designed with, and delivered by, staff from T Level providers.

Role courses are non-subject specific and offer training to support your teaching methods and approaches, whether you are new to technical education or whether you are experienced and want to enhance your practice focused on the challenges of T Levels.  

Route courses are T Level subject specific. These courses introduce the structure of specific T Levels, explore curriculum models and key considerations for delivery and assessment, as well as looking at approaches for the industry placement and practical skills development.

Teaching T Levels in Further Education (FE)

Live online and face-to-face courses

The Teaching T Levels in FE course consists of two parts. The Part 2 course is aimed at those who have either attended Part 1 of the course, or who have engaged with the TLPD offer in previous academic years.

Teaching T Levels in FE Part 1  

Part 1 of this non-subject specific course is for teachers and staff working directly with T Level learners. There is the opportunity to explore T-Shaped Learning and how to develop learners’ knowledge, skills and behaviours in the context of relevant industry and labour market information. The course will identify professional upskilling opportunities for T Level teachers and staff. 

Teaching T Levels in FE Part 2 

Part 2 of this non-subject specific course is for teachers and staff working directly with T Level learners. The course will explore curriculum planning for T Levels, identify approaches to use with learners, such as project-based learning, and analyse a range of teaching strategies in T Level delivery, including planning strategies for bringing theory and practice into the classroom.

Teaching and Assessing T Levels in Schools Part 1 

Part 1 of this course is for school teachers and staff who are involved in the implementation of T Levels. The course will explore T Levels, maintaining a clear focus on their role in offering a pathway to the workplace for learners. It will cover what to consider when preparing for industry placement, as well as curriculum planning and pedagogical practices when designing a curriculum.  

Teaching and Assessing T Levels in Schools Part 2 

Part 2 of this course is for school teachers and staff who are involved in the implementation of T Levels. The course will analyse the summative assessments of T Levels, explore the embedded English, maths and digital components and how to prepare learners for success. It will also consider curriculum and formative assessment planning around the assessment windows.

Additionally, participants will examine plans for industry placement and explore employer engagement opportunities and strategies for promoting, marketing and providing information, advice and guidance for the Management and Administration T Level.

  • Part 2 of this course is designed for teachers, trainers or curriculum leaders who are looking to enhance their skills and knowledge in the delivery of this T Level.   • Part 1 of this course is designed to help those involved in the planning and delivery of the Craft and Design T Level. This session will provide an overview of the T Level structure and compare the content of the T Level to existing qualifications to help staff to identify opportunities for upskilling. Participants will review methods of employer engagement, evaluate different curriculum models and examine the requirements of a T Level Craft and Design learner, as well as analysing the importance of the embedded English, maths and digital skills in the Craft and Design T Level. 

Teaching and Learning on the Craft and Design T Level Part 2 (TLPDRR221) 

  • Part 2 of this course is designed for teachers, trainers, or curriculum leaders who are looking to enhance their skills and knowledge in the delivery of the T Level in Craft and Design. It will examine the importance of holistic skill development for this T Level as well as reviewing the different pedagogical approaches that can be used to support delivery of the core content. This course will outline the structure of the T Level and investigate the occupational specialisms available. Participants will explore how learner skills are developed through the industry placement and will compare different curriculum models and sequencing approaches. This course also looks at the resourcing requirements for the Media, Broadcasting and Production T Level.

  • Part 1 of this course is designed to support teachers, trainers and curriculum leaders by enhancing their understanding of the structure of the Health T Level in comparison to existing qualifications. It will explore the T-Shaped learner within the context of the Health T Level as well as providing opportunities to discuss effective diagnostic assessment and compare curriculum models. This course will also look at planning for industry placements and employer engagement as well as promotion, marketing and providing information, advice and guidance for the Health T Level. 

Teaching and Learning on the Health T Level Part 2 (TLPDRR239) 

  • Part 2 of this course is designed for teachers, trainers and curriculum leaders who are looking to enhance their understanding of holistic skill development in the Health T Level. It will explore different pedagogical approaches to delivering the core content and analyse approaches to preparing learners for assessment. 

Teaching and Learning on the Healthcare Science T Level Part 1 (TLPDRR240) 

  • Part 1 of this course is designed for teachers, trainers and curriculum leaders and provides an outline of the structure of the T Level, comparing it to existing qualifications. The course will explore the T-Shaped learner, effective diagnostic assessment and curriculum models. It will also look at industry placements and employer engagement as well as promotion, marketing and providing information, advice and guidance for the Healthcare Science T Level. 

Teaching and Learning on the Healthcare Science T Level Part 2 (TLPDRR241) 

  • Part 2 of the teaching and learning on the Healthcare Science T Level course will examine the importance of holistic skill development in the Healthcare Science T Level. It will explore different pedagogical approaches to delivering the core content and approaches to preparing learners for assessment. 

Teaching and Learning on the Science T Level Part 1 (TLPDRR254) 

  • Part 1 of this course is designed for teachers, trainers or curriculum leaders who are involved in the delivery of T Levels. In the course, you will explore the structure of the Science T Level and compare the core content to existing qualifications. Participants will have the opportunity to compare curriculum models and plan for industry placement as well as exploring opportunities for employer engagement and for promoting, marketing and providing information, advice and guidance for the Science T Level.

  • Part 2 of this course is designed for teachers, trainers, or curriculum leaders who are looking to enhance their skills and knowledge in the delivery of the Science T Level. Participants will also explore different approaches to prepare learners for the T Level assessments.

  • Part 1 of this course is designed for teachers, trainers or curriculum leaders who are involved in the delivery of T Levels. It will explore the structure of the Accounting T Level, discuss how to target the T Level learner and raise expectations, explain the importance of embedded English, maths and digital skills for the Accounting T Level and consider how to enhance employer partnerships.    

Teaching and Learning on the Accounting T Level Part 2 (TLPDRR213) 

  • Part 2 of this course is designed for teachers, trainers, or curriculum leaders who are looking to enhance their skills and knowledge in the delivery of the T Level in Accounting and who are working directly with learners in the delivery and assessment of T Levels. It will review different pedagogical approaches for delivering the core content, reflect on approaches for preparing learners for assessment, explore the occupational specialism and examine the importance of professionalism and ethics in the Accounting T Level.   

Teaching and Learning on the Finance T Level Part 1 (TLPDRR236) 

  • Part 1 of this course is designed for teachers, trainers or curriculum leaders who are involved in the delivery of the Finance T Level. It will explore the structure of the Finance T Level, discuss how to target the T Level learner and raise expectations, explain the importance of embedded English, maths and digital skills for the Finance T Level and consider how to enhance employer partnerships.    

Teaching and Learning on the Finance T Level Part 2 (TLPDRR237) 

  • Part 2 of this course is designed for teachers, trainers, or curriculum leaders who are looking to enhance their skills and knowledge in the delivery of the Finance T Level and who are working directly with learners in the delivery and assessment of T Levels. It will examine financial products and services and review different pedagogical approaches for delivering the core content. This course will also demonstrate different approaches to tracking and recording progress towards assessment, and will share approaches to prepare learners for assessment. 

Teaching and Learning on the Legal Services T Level Part 1 (TLPDRR242) 

  • Part 1 of this course is designed to help those involved in the planning and delivery of the Legal Services T Level to support their learners in developing the appropriate knowledge, skills and behaviours to be successful. Part 1 content is the same for providers delivering Legal Services, Accounting and Finance T Levels as the core content is mostly the same. This session is particularly aimed at those unfamiliar with the structure of the Legal Services, Finance and Accounting T Levels. It will explore curriculum models for the Legal Services T Level, explain the importance of embedded English, maths and digital skills and how to raise student expectations to meet the needs of a T Level. This session will also consider how to enhance employer partnerships for legal services.      

Teaching and Learning on the Legal Services T Level Part 2 (TLPDRR243) 

  • Part 2 of this course is designed to support teachers, trainers or curriculum leaders who are looking to enhance their skills and knowledge in the delivery of the Legal Services T Level. This session will consider the importance of holistic skill development in Legal Services, pedagogical approaches for delivering the core and occupational specialisms, assessment logistics and the role of industry placement in developing learning in legal services.

This course identifies the core components for the T Level and discusses options for timetabling, yearly plans and scheduling of assessments. Participants will also have the opportunity to evaluate opportunities for industry placement and networking.

  • Part 2 of this course is designed for teachers, trainers or curriculum leaders who are looking to enhance their skills and knowledge in the delivery of the Marketing T Level. This course considers strategies to develop essential holistic skills in marketing as well as reviewing different pedagogical approaches for delivering the core content. Participants will also hear about approaches to prepare learners for synoptic assessment.

Embedded English, Maths and Digital for T Levels 

Live online and face-to-face courses

Embedded English, maths and digital for T Levels consists of two parts. Part 2 courses are aimed at those who have either attended Part 1 of the course, or who have engaged with the TLPD offer in previous academic years. 

Part 1 of the Embedded English, maths and digital for T Levels course is for teachers working directly with learners in the delivery and assessment of T Levels, including staff in school sixth forms, Further Education, and other settings. This session is aimed at practitioners who will be delivering T Levels, not maths and English teachers. The course is designed to build confidence and skills for teachers in delivering the embedded English, maths and digital (EMD) content. Although this is a non-subject specific course, delegates will have opportunities to explore some subject-specific examples as well as maintain a holistic approach to the general competencies. The course will explore the EMD competencies and suggest how these can be used to develop EMD skills of learners in a range of T Level contexts. It will examine some practical ideas to help teachers develop confidence and skills in the teaching, learning and assessment of these competencies. 

Part 2 of Embedded English, maths and digital for T Levels will explore practical strategies that will support practitioners who are already in delivery, as well as pre-delivery and those who may have taken an Embedded English, maths and digital course in the past. This course will use practical activities to explore the development of learners’ EMD competencies and analyse approaches for applying and transferring the explicit skills needed by learners into T Levels.

Assessment in T Levels in Further Education

Assessment in T Levels in Further Education consists of two parts. Part 2 courses are aimed at those who have either attended Part 1 of the course, or who have engaged with the TLPD offer in previous academic years. 

Part 1 of this non-subject specific course on Assessment in T Levels in FE is designed to help those working directly with learners in T Level delivery and assessment to build an understanding of approaches to T Level assessment. The course will explore pedagogical approaches, practices and strategies for T Level assessment. It will also analyse curriculum models and investigate methods of formative assessment to track progress and develop assessment literacy. 

Part 2 of this non-subject specific course in Assessment in T Levels in FE is designed to help those working directly with learners in T Level delivery and assessment, and will build on the pedagogical approaches, practices and strategies for T Level assessment explored in Part 1. This Part 2 course will analyse strategies to support learners for T Level summative assessment and identify formative assessment approaches to enable learners’ success.

In-house courses for T Level providers

The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) is pleased to offer in-house delivery on a range of T Level Professional Development (TLPD) courses for groups of practitioners.  

Developed by ETF and funded by the Department for Education (DfE), these courses are designed to support Further Education (FE) and Skills providers who are delivering or preparing to deliver T Levels across a range of routes and contexts. 

They are led by Sector Delivery Partners who can share valuable insights based on their extensive knowledge and delivery experience. 

The following courses are currently available for in-house delivery: 

  • Assessment in T Levels in FE Parts 1 and 2 
  • Teaching T Levels in FE Parts 1 and 2 
  • Teaching and Assessing in Schools’ Parts 1 and 2 
  • Embedded English, maths and digital for T Levels Parts 1 and 2

Depending on your needs, you can choose: 

  • in-person delivery at your organisation (3 hours per part for a minimum of 10 attendees in the morning and/or afternoon). 
  • virtual delivery via Zoom (2.5 hours per part for a minimum of 10attendees in the morning and/or afternoon). 

If you would like a full day of delivery, Parts 1 and 2 of a course can be delivered on the same day. You can also ‘mix and match’ parts of different courses to make up a full day of delivery (e.g. part 2 of ‘Teaching T Levels in FE’ followed by part 1 of ‘Assessment in T Levels in FE’).
