Effective induction can play a key role in supporting new teachers with settling into their role while also creating a culture of self-reflection and continuing professional development that enable new teachers to grow in their role. There is, however, little information on what induction provision is offered by Further Education (FE) providers in England. Therefore, the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) commissioned ICF Consulting Services Ltd (August – October 2019) to undertake research to examine the induction and on-boarding of new teachers in the FE sector.
This study aims to provide the ETF with an evidence base of existing induction practice in FE, to inform their future support for the sector.
