Since 2013 there is no regulatory framework in place regarding what qualifications are needed by teachers in the Further Education and Training sector. However a framework for teaching qualifications is still in place and the recognised full qualification for FE teachers is the Diploma in Education & Training (or PGCE or Cert Ed). For older qualifications you can get in touch with us to clarify equivalence.
Employers are also advised to encourage their teaching staff to gain the professional status for the sector, QTLS, see SET. For staff with overseas qualifications you may wish to contact SET to establish equivalence.
This package has been developed by the Foundation to provide a training programme to support teachers to deliver GCSE resit programmes in maths & English. The packages are 10 session programmes enabling providers to run at their convenience in-house training for their staff, and to facilitate this we are providing everything the tutor would need to deliver them.
Additionally, the Foundation provides a range of support for teachers of Maths and English GCSE. See English and maths.
