Grants for FE EdTech mentors and coaches

Grants to support professional development of FE EdTech mentors and coaches

The Department for Education (DfE) and the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) recognise Further Education providers are seeking to ensure a safe and widespread return to face-to-face delivery from September 2020 and that there will be an ongoing need to support the development of high quality online teaching, learning and assessment, including designing blended learning courses across the sector.

To support this immediate need, the ETF is offering 80 Grants to FE providers across England to support the professional development of mentors and coaches specialising in EdTech.

The Grants are designed to support mentors and coaches to undertake:

  • self-directed professional development
  • additional mentoring and coaching of colleagues to enhance the quality of online/blended delivery across their organisation.

Grants

80 grants of £1,000 are available to mentors or coaches working in FE who are currently supporting the use of EdTech with teachers and trainers across their organisation.

The ETF have developed a guide outlining 10 ideas for professional development. Each successful mentor or coach will receive the guide and will submit an action plan detailing which activities they plan to undertake before 31 March 2021. They will also be required to submit a progress report three months after completing the initial action plan.

ETF will host a webinar for all successful mentors to meet other EdTech mentors and coaches from across the country taking part in this initiative.
