Shaping Success in Maths and English

Good literacy and numeracy skills are central to success in work and life. The ETF offers a comprehensive range of CPD courses to support effective teaching of maths and English for teachers of GCSE, Functional Skills, apprenticeships and study programmes. Each year around 4,000 practitioners complete face to face, online and blended courses to improve their teaching and assessment approaches in maths and English.

Shaping Success has been carefully designed to provide solutions to concerns around progress in post-16 maths and English attainment. Our courses are making an impact; watch our video of Liam Alderton explaining how we supported him to enhance his digital approach to teaching maths and English.

We offer a wrap-around programme of support for maths and English and the opportunity to engage with our Regional Specialist Leads, delivering advice and guidance and identifying the best options available for organisations and individuals on a local level.

Our offer is flexible; as well as CPD courses, we can offer packages of support tailored to your organisation or network’s needs. This might include strategic or operational support sessions with leaders and managers, CPD sessions with staff, webinars, follow up activities and resource development workshops. Contact your Regional Specialist Lead for more information.

Accessing courses and resources from the Shaping Success offer will help you raise the standard of teaching, the attainment of pupils and better prepare students for key maths and English skills in the workplace.

ETF support for maths and English includes:

For organisational level support, providers can also engage with our dedicated team of specialists to receive a maths and English strategic support visit to identify high-level areas of need.
