Effective Technical Teaching

This strand of the Apprenticeship Workforce Development (AWD) offer will support colleagues to successfully deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences; working in partnership with employers to prepare learners for End Point Assessment (EPA) and employment.

This strand is split into two interlinked courses:

  • Enhancing Pedagogy and Professional Practice
  • Preparing for End Point Assessment Success

Who is it useful for?

Teachers, trainers, assessors, managers and leaders directly involved in delivering or supporting apprenticeships. 

Enhancing Pedagogy and Professional Practice

This course covers:

  • The national context for technical education and apprenticeship reforms
  • How the changing contexts will affect professional and pedagogical practice
  • The importance of dual professionalism as a means of high-quality apprenticeship delivery
  • Approaches to teaching, learning and assessment and the role of the employer
  • Effective partnership working.

Course delivery: Online course (AWD03): Enhancing Pedagogy and Professional Practice

Recommended 6 hours of self-guided learning.

Preparing for End Point Assessment Success

This course covers:

  • Effective planning and progress monitoring on programme assessment
  • Effective partnership working
  • Skills development and techniques for preparing learners for employment
  • Designing successful End Point Assessment (EPA).
