In June 2018 we launched the Taking Teaching Further (TTF) programme, a national initiative to attract experienced industry professionals with expert technical knowledge and skills to work in Further Education. This Department for Education funded initiative is being managed on its behalf by the Education and Training Foundation.

In October the Government announced the first 37 post-16 providers that were successful in securing funding from the first application round, which will support industry professionals to retrain to work in their institutions.

The first application round is also funding 20 innovative projects to explore how industry and the further education sector can work together to make sure students gain the knowledge and skills businesses really need.

The programme is initially running for two years to pilot how to effectively encourage and support experienced industry professionals from key sectors into full or part-time FE teaching roles. The programme will also support the ongoing exchange between FE providers and industry so that students can gain the knowledge and skills that employers need.

The programme has been designed with the Association of Colleges and the Education and Training Foundation, to create further links between the education sector and industry.

Applications for Round 2 closed on 15 February 2019.
