Job Description

The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) helps ensure the Further Education and Training sector to develop world class leaders, teachers and trainers. We work across the whole FE sector and are funded by Government grant, commercial contracts, professional membership and accreditation fees and a variety of other activities.

We are now looking to appoint a Management Accountant to provide actionable, insightful financial reporting and to help staff across the organisation use it to improve our performance. This would be an excellent role for a qualified or nearly-qualified accountant wanting to use their financial acumen to support the work in a range of different business models.

Reporting to the Financial Controller and working in close partnership with the other Management Accountant and Assistant Accountant.  You will play a key role in the month end, reporting income (from grant funding to commercial contracts and membership income), spend and commitments with budget holders, identifying variances and reasons, and seeking to address those with actionable initiatives. You will also be able to support the current team with any statutory and control requirements across ETF.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Good experience providing management accounts support financial support
  • Ability to grasp how processes work and how that might be reflected in accounts
  • Highly self-motivated and proactive, with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong degree of confidence and ability to relate to various staff levels throughout an organisation
  • A full accountancy qualification (e.g. CIMA or ACCA) or, if part-qualified in the later stages of study, a strong background of experience.
