Job Description

The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) helps ensure that the Further Education and Training sector develops world class leaders, teachers and trainers. We work across the whole FE sector and are funded by Government grant, commercial contracts, professional membership (The Society for Education and Trainng – SET) and accreditation fees and a variety of other business activities.

We are now looking to appoint a National Head of Education for Sustainable Development who will be the policy lead and ETF expert on this area, building and maintaining relationships with relevant stakeholders, negotiating grants, providing expertise into bidding and leading on design work for the area. The role will report into the Director of Design & Development and will be an expert in the Education for Sustainable Development principles and what CPD and other interventions work to bring about improvement.

You will:

  • Either be, or have ability to become, a thought leader nationally
  • Be responsible for engaging DfE colleagues and the sector
  • Be responsible for both leading programmes and CPD design linked to this area of expertise
  • Help ensure the sustainability principles are embedded across the ETF provision.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be educated to degree level or equivalent
  • The ability to build and maintain networks and senior level relationships across the sector
  • Clearly able to demonstrate expertise in Education for Sustainable Development
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of the FE and training sector
  • Experience of CPD / curriculum design
  • Good current knowledge about education research, policy and practice
  • Ability to work with a wide range of external stakeholders to design and build professional development programmes
  • Ability to demonstrate strong understanding, knowledge and experience of what makes professional development in an education and training environment effective
  • Passion for and curiosity about latest educational research and big education debates
